Cranberry Sauce – No Refined Sugar

Ingredients

  • 10 or 12 ounces fresh or frozen cranberries

  • ¾ to 1 cup chopped dates

  • 1 orange, zested and juiced

  • ½ cup water

Directions

  • Add all ingredients except the orange zest to a large pot.
  • Heat covered over medium-high heat.
  • Once the mixture is boiling, reduce to a simmer, stir and cover again. Continue to cook, stirring occasionally for about 10 minutes or until all the cranberries have burst.
  • For a rustic sauce, use the back of your mixing spoon to smash the mixture, or for a smoother sauce you can use an immersion blender to blend.
  • Stir in the orange zest and serve warm or chilled along with your favorite holiday recipes. You may also enjoy on toast or in your morning oatmeal!
